Broadcast 1960 through 1968 - starring Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, Ronny Howard and Frances Bavier - the small town of Mayberry, North Carolina, was home for this very successful and funny sitcom. The stories centered around Sheriff Andy Taylor, a widower with a young son named Opie. Andy's deputy was his cousin Barney Fife, the most inept and hypertense deputy in television history. Andy and Opie lived with Andy's Aunt Bee, a combination housekeeper and foster mother for Opie. With crime practically non-existent, Andy and Barney had plenty of time to become involved in the many funny situations of the citizens of Mayberry.
